If you think of Andy Griffith as just the folksy, good natured sheriff of 1960s television, go check out his 1957 movie, ‘A Face In The Crowd.’  It’s a scorcher, with Andy playing a demagogue who just crackles with ambition and - yes - animal sexuality. Here’s a scene he plays with his mistress, the divine Patricia Neal.  Griffith died today, age 86.

Andy Griffith R.I.P. Man, you had a great run. 

Everybody and their moms will be going over classic clips from The Andy Griffith Show or Matlock, but I liked his movies more, especially A Face In The Crowd.  “Lonesome” Rhodes was like the Star Trek Mirror Universe version of Sheriff Andy Taylor, a great role.  But even Rhodes didn’t have anything on John Wallace in Murder In Coweta County

What would Aunt Bea and Barney Fife say!
