Fly Me To The Moon/Bobby Womack
My mom’s favorite Bobby Womack song is Harry Hippie but I have always associated this song with her. Back when I was a kid, I thought my mom could do anything, even fly me to the moon…
One time I had a dream, I was on Mt. Everest and I was freezing to death. I was all set to accept my fate when I heard a horn blowing. Then I heard my mother’s voice, screaming at me. I looked down the mountain and there was my mother, in a robe, with her hair in rollers and covered up with a scarf, with slippers on, tell me to come on!
I screamed back at her, “I’m dying, Ma!”
She yelled back at me, “Not after me and your step-father drove all the way here to come get your ass off this mountain!”
Then she came up to where I was, grabbed me by my collar and started dragging me down the mountain to where my step-dad was, in the SUV, waiting.
“You paying us back for the gas, boy”, Moms said to me, as she threw me in the back of the SUV.
Thank God, I woke up before she started lecturing me.
My mom, she can fly me to the moon and walk up Mt. Everest in a robe with slippers on.
